XD45 Barrel: Looking for extreme length?
Hey Guys,
I've been researching a little bit on barrels and looking for one with a lot of length to it. i'm looking for an 8" barrel. Anyone know of anyone that has blanks/can make one?

probably at first nothing. then eventually one of two things. either build a whole new slide on one of the cncs at work or machine an extension of the front profile of the xd and weld it on and refinish the slide.

You do realize that changing the weight of the slide, and the weight distribution (making it front heavy) that you will muck with the reliability, right?

I do realize it will change the slide weight. That's really something I'm going to have to do some investigation and research on. I think if I measure the K constant of the spring currently and somehow relate that to the new weight of the slide at the point of being at the slide lock, I can eliminate most of that.
I have to use my 4 years of engineering school for something...

If you don't move the forcing cone to the end of the new barrel/slide you're going to get a lot of whip as it unlocks.
If you DO find someone who can make custom XD-45 barrels from blanks let me know, I have a 10mm project waiting for money and skills.
