357 conversion

Hey all, just bought my first XD357. One of the interesting things I found out about the weapon is that you can interchange barrels to different calibers. I just wanted some expert advice from you folks. With the 357sig, can you change to a 9mm, or .40 barrel. I was thinking the 9mm would be a good plinking round, and the .40 would be for just to shoot for a change.
Are the barrels really "plug and play" or do you have to do extensive mods?
I love these forums, if they are any thing like the motorcycle forums, you learn more here than any dealership

Most barrels are "drop in", meaning you just replace the barrel and go.

Some of the higher quality ones may require fitting.

Not "higher quality" as much as how the barrels are made. Some barrels are made over size so they can be fitted to each gun.

so my understanding, with the 357 , you can exchange with a .40, or downsize to a 9mm, just can't upsize to a .45
