Springfield XD 9mm Upgrades

Guys & Ladies,

What are some upgrades I can do to my 9mm 4'' service model? I don't care for the flashlight I already have one. What does the PRP ultimate trigger kits actually do and which one do I really need? Also do I need anything else? What does the Trijion night sights actually do?

Good questions. Ive been thinking of a trigger job and new sights also. I just don't know if they are practical upgrades for me. I don't carry and I'm far from a competition shooter. I just want a gun thats fun to shoot and not dangerous. If i could find some sights that would help me get a better visual on my target in both light and dark conditions then i might pop on them. A new trigger would be nice as long as it didn't create some kind of hair trigger thats unsafe or dangerous in a newbies hands. Let me know what u come up with. good luck

I did the overtravel trigger and the striker plate to start. The trigger is smooth faced and really awesome.
The trigger safety is super light. After filing down the trigger to get it set right it works great. And the pull is a lil lighter.
Striker plate.. that's just a comfort thing IMHO. I feel better knowing its there.
I also added the "Xtreme Grips", just for fun. I shoot 75% of the time with gloves. So now my gun looks cool.
My next step is sights. I'm honestly thinking of sights. Fiber optic on the front and rear night sights.

Freestyle,

How does the trigger and strike plate feel when your shooting your gun? Also the grips how do they feel when your gripping them?

Grips, Love them... everyone makes fun of me cause their red. I dont' care! I like red... it's my gun. And even with gloves... i can feel the grip in my hand. No slip!
Trigger, I like the smooth face on the trigger. Super smooth. (Keep in mind all i did was the trigger, no springs or anything else). And to me it feels maybe 1/2 lb lighter. Maybe i'm imagining things...
And the striker plate is nice, takes me 10 more seconds to take my gun apart... but i'm getting less debris in my gun. And yes... i actually roll around with my gun.

Mine (obvisously) the one on the left. And the right is my wife's new G19. She doesn't keep the 33 rd stick in it though.

Thank you for the information I emailed the guy at PRP asking him what would be good for my handgun. I have big hands and looking for better grip handling. How does your wife like the Glock?

She likes it. It's comfortable (for her), I like Gen 4 stuff. But most of all compared to the XD, the slide is easy for her to use. She now has no issues racking the slide.

That's cool. On your handgun easy to slide the slide back?

It is for me... but I'm a dry fire fool. I practice all types of weapons manipulations I can around the house. A bigger one would be nice, maybe after i get a new concealed piece i'll be looking into a bigger slide catch/release. But I will say it is a stiff spring.

Hey I had the same problem, I needed a little extra thickness for a better grip. I brought the Hogue grip about $22 and I could not be happier.

It adds palm swells to the grip and also nicely spaced out finger grooves. Also adds a bit of thickness and since it's rubber it feels really nice.
