Idea for a mag release for XDm
Has anyone thought about a rotary mag release? A lever kind of like the safety on an AR. Push down and mag drops. Seems like it could help tactical reloads without grip change. For those who can't release the mag easily or added convince or cuz no one else has one. Would love to be involved with the project as I don't have the means to build it but i do have the design in my head.

You mean like an HK style mag release?
HK P30 Mag Release
But built for the XD/XD(m)? (XD and XD(m) share the same mag release part)

Kinda. But along the grip. So your dominant thumb would rest on it. Simple push down and boom you're ready to go. Imagine an AR safety lever on the side of your grip. With a factory release it rotates as you push so I figure it cuts out the middle man.

Yeah the mag release does rotate forwards i guess it would just depend a lot on the design aspect of the release. If only I had a CNC machine I'd try making one myself, sounds interesting.

i think pushing a lever down would be harder than pushing a button in even though the button rotates you dont notice it on your finger while pushing.

It may not work but I am a bigger guy with average size hands and I have to break my focus, grip, and aim to drop the mag. If this does work though it it would move the release to a more accessible point and use leverage to activate it. On paper and mentally it makes sense and looks feasible.
