The only way a product can become proven is if people buy it. How do you think Surefire got there reputation? I can tell you right now, they just didn't come out and say there products were some of the best. People bought there products and gave them good reviews. Why don't we all wait and see what kind of reviews this product gets by users before we jump to conclusion and declare it's a piece of ****.

I agree with everything that is being said in this post and on all sides, my main point is if you use one everyday like a few of us do then get the warranty, They are great when it breaks! If it’s just for home defense then get the affordable model, most wives prefer it that way J . I really didn’t mean to start a debate over my shooting habits, my weapon is just that, mine! I carry one every day and have for the past __3o__ plus years and I love my gun and I can assure you one thing my friend! If it comes down to protecting my family or even yours! You can rest assure I do know how to fire my weapon, and hit my target.

^ This I agree with wholeheartedly.
FWIW, I won't have the budget for this item until April, but at that time, I will be buying one, for the sole purpose of putting it on whatever I'm shooting (providing that it'll mount - i.e. my SR9c likely won't be able to take the unit), and seeing how a few thousand rounds might or might not affect the unit's durability/reliability.
Unfortunately, it will be an " n of 1" - of just myself, with just the unit that I'll buy, but hey, if enough of us do this, for long enough, it just may work.
I can't speak for anyone else, but my personal viewpoint is that we need to approach new products like this, for this specific purpose, with due caution. Nothing more, nothing less.

You know, this amuses me.
I love how if you dare to point out that something likely isn't as good as another, point out that one of the items has a poor track record...well, then you're compensating for "shortcomings"...
Pure ignorance at it's best (or, perhaps, worst). If you can't attack the position, make personal attacks.
Good luck with the Chicom airsoft toys. Don't say you weren't warned...and if you don't want to practice with them because they're too fragile to be used much on a real gun, don't be too surprised when you don't know how to work 'em when the chips are down.
And if you are, well...it's likely your surprise won't last long.

Reminds me of the rem 870 clone debate, people saying no way in hell the combloc rip off pardner pump is anywhere close to a remmy 870 and it will break, ftf , fte , and be a paper weight.
Meanwhile my NEF PP has over 700 rounds out of it , no problems , no jams, shoots anything I feed it. And it only cost me 150 , the fit and finish is great to.
If anything maybe the SL will go down in price, competition is always a good thing.
Shocked at the amount of negative attitude towards the OP
Look forward to a higher round count report, if anything to show the doubters
