PRP trigger kit advice.

I've been doing some reading on the different trigger kit upgrades and I think I'm going to go with Power River Precision, but I need help choosing which kit to go with.

Basic Trigger kit $55.95
Easy Fit kit $73.90
Match Target Easy Fit Kit $85.80

This will be going on my XD9. Daniel feel free to join in.

K-9,
It depends on what you are using the pistol for. I would not recommend the basic kit for any thing other then a rang only pistol, if you plan on installing the set screw in the trigger bar. If you install the screw in the frame then you'll be good to go. The difference between the other two kits is the reduced power trigger and sear springs. If you are happy with the stock trigger weight then I would recommend the Easy Fit Kit. If you get the MT kit you can mix and match the reduced power springs with stock springs adjust the trigger pull to your liking.

Thanks Daniel, I would like this XD9 to be a really smooth shooter so I'm really not sure what kit to go with. Which kit is the most popular, and when it comes to installing do I need to have a gunsmith do the work?

I installed the match kit in my xd45 in about an hour with no previous gun smith experience. Just followed the procedure in this thread http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/latest-...avel-stop.html and it worked like a charm.

Which kit for a carry gun?

I have an XD40 which I use both as a daily carry gun and also shoot for IDPA. Which PRP trigger kit / parts collection would work best? Trigger pull is not really objectionable (though a tad lighter wouldn't hurt), but overtravel and general "crispness" are both desireable. Obviously, as a carry gun, I don't want to do anything that would make it dangerous in a stress situation or (potentially) objectionable to a jury.

For carry I think you are better off keeping the weight the same (don't use the match kit). I have a match kit in my .45 (for range use only) and a standard kit in my 9mm for carry. The match kit is awesome and real slick, but for personal protection I would rather have a little more weight on the trigger pull.

So the basic trigger kit would be acceptable for personal protection purposes?

I took the guess work out of it and just sent my XD40SC to Daniel and had him do a Combat Carry trigger job set at 4#. Feels great, smooth and crisp and,not to light just right.

Many people do not like to do anything to the triggers on their carry guns due to the legal ramifications if ever forced to use it. Lawyers will attempt to use anything they can, to show that your just it itching to use the gun. Wrongly, they can use a "trigger job" to be unsafe. Up to you!
