I own and operate a small gun shop, and have often had several customers ask what was the best. When I tell them I use Olive oil they laugh for a bit, and then realize I'm serious. Most of them come back around and tell me that they tried it and love it, some prefer cool looking bottles of stuff filled with components they can't pronounce. But for me, I don't stray to far from olive oil. It is as jfdavis58 said, it is all about proper use and application.

In all my years working with guns, I don't like to let one get to the point of rust. I operate my business like an armorer first ensuring that all are clean and properly stored. All the chemicals in the world cannot prevent rust like proper care and cleaning.

I'll surely agree with; All the chemicals in the world cannot prevent rust like proper care and cleaning.

I use Slide Glide and Gun Butter on my pistols...........
Never tried Eezox, but read a lot of good things about it researching the two I do use..

Eezox and Slide-Glide are all I use now.

my old favorites were hoppes 9 and remoil... not no more.

I've been using Eezox for about 3 years now, and slide-glide for about a year. I don't think I will be changing to anything else for a Long time.

Agreed, clean often and it shouldn't matter what you use, these just happen to be my Favorites.

Stay Safe.

As many of you I have a multiude of cleaners and lubes, however I am moving toward simplifing things. Now use Eezox for cleaning and rust preventative and Mobil 1 for lube. Going on two years now and see no reason to go back to old products.
Even use Eezox on my black powder pistols in Cowboy shooting. Works great.

my problem with olive oil is the low smoking point of it.

personally i use the lube from the sex shops, if its good enough for a vagina its good enough for my gun... (i'm totally joking)

Been using hoppe's for years. I clean once a week weather the guns has been fired or not.
