New xd rusting?

I know the old XD's had some problems with rust. I would assume they have fixed it but I figured I would ask to be sure.

I haven't seen any of the new melonite finish XD's rusting. If they do that's what the warranty is for.

I have not seen any of the old XDs
rusting. Maintain it with lub and oil
and it is ready to go where ever.

My two month old XDSC in stainless is starting to rust up. So much for the new finish.

Can you tell us about the
environment that you carry
the machine in? also, the type
carry that you use? weather
conditions? holster type? what
brand/type of cleaners do you
use? lubricants?

My friend's 2-tone Service is rusty as well on the slide in the cocking serrations at the rear. He carries it IWB against his skin and sweats alot. I believe the 2-tone version is just stainless steel, which if the case, can rust under the right circumstances. My black 9mm Sub compact has the new melonite finish and I've carried it IWB and sweat on it a bit too with no problems so far (2weeks).

Here is the kicker, I don't carry it or at least have not yet.(impulse buy my 1911s get carried) I keep the slide nicely coated in CLP and inside my safe. It is the only firearm out of my 30 or so with any rust on it and it is the second newest gun I own. At the moment it is pitting around the serrations and the front sight. A clean and well maintained firearm will rarely fail and I am well aware of that. I have not had a chance to contact Springfield and there awesome customer service.

None of mine have any signs of rust. I remember way back when it seemed all the guns were blued and you just kept them cleaned and lubed and never heard this talk about firearms rusting.Where did we go wrong?

I take care of it like it doesn't even have the benefit of bluing on it but never the less pitting. Starting to wonder what kind of quality controls that Springfield has in Croatia.
