My first post and a question IRT corrosion and melonite
Good afternoon all,
I've been lurking around this site for sometime trying to to get educated about the XD so first let me say thanks! I've been shooting Glocks for more than a few years now (I know, I know) and I've been trying to convince myself that I need an XD however, every time I'm just about convinced to buy one I start thinking about corrosion and I shy away again. I'm currently in the Navy and I'm always going to be stationed in a fairly corrosive environment. I've never had a problem with corrosion with any of my Glocks (I know others have and I'm not trying to start one of those Glock DO corrode threads) So I guess my question is, is the Melonite finish on the XD as corrosion resistant as the Tenifer finish of my Glocks? How much different are they? Thanks in advance for all your input. R/ VArigger Last edited by VArigger; 05-09-2008 at 04:41 PM. |

Ofcourse their is a diference in the polish and i would really prefer Melonite cause MELONITE is a thermochemical treatment for improving surface properties of metal parts. It exhibits predictable and repeatable results in the treating of low and medium carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless and austenitic steels, tool and die steels, cast and sintered iron.
