Rusty pins even with melonite??? Prevent???
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to prevent the little pins that show on the frame from rusting. I have a two week old xd40 sc and I noticed that, despite my good cleaning habits, the pins in the polymer frame are starting to rust. My gun does have the melonite finish and so I did not think this would happen but maybe the pins are still subject to easily rust. Can anyone suggest on how to keep this from rusting??? Is it possible???

Are you storing it in a safe where moisture might be high? If so, I would recommend putting a moisture prevention product in your safe.

If they're a slight maroon color or just discolored from the other metal parts of the gun that is 100% normal. If it's rust, then it's rust.

Mine are a maroon color. Not rust.
