+1. It works on all guns, completely eliminates the need for grease on slides and rails, as well as preventing rust. I had a Mini-14 STAINLESS last year that was showing rust in the stainless trigger assembly parts. I sprayed it down with CorrosionX aerosol version, and let it soak for a day. Some rust went away, but not all. So I sprayed again and soaked 2 more days. The rust specks completely disappeared, and never came back. Now, about once a year, with each of my guns I completely coat/paint the metal parts with CorrosionX, and let them soak for up to 2 days in a long rubbermaid container. When done, I just wipe them down and put them away. No more rust. And I live in the Pacific NW, where we have constant rain and mist 9 months a year!

Do you still need to lube? Or does Corrosion X take care of that too? Is like a 2in1 kinda like Break Free?

No you do not need a separate lube. In fact, CorrosionX can completely replace BreakFree CLP, it can server as a cleaner, lube, protectant all in one, and is much better than BreakFree IMHO (although CorrosionX is a little bit more expensive, but tolerable).

I still use a separate cleaner though--the Mpro7 gun cleaner--and then use CorrosionX (or the Mpro 7 CLP solution) as my lube/protectant. CorrosionX has been repeatedly tested against other solutions and has been proven to be better than any other popular rust-fighting solution out there except for Eezox, which is slightly better. Problems with Eezox are that it smells pretty strong, and it's not really good as a lube though. So I stick with CorrosionX. In addition to being about the best rust protection you can get, it also is so effective at lubing and bonding to your metal, you don't even need to use gun grease anymore, it completely replaces that.

CorrosionX is indeed good stuff, and I used it for quite a few years. It is an ok cleaner. I ended up switching to FP-10, and then Weapon Shield instead, as they are better cleaners, darn good lubricants, and for me have been just as good at protecting the metal from rust.

I find that I don't like having to use three specialty solutions. The ONLY solutions out there that I've found work fairly well in a pinch as "CLP" products for all 3 functions of cleaning, lubing, and protecting, are:

* Breakfree, of course. But not that great, IMHO.

* Ballistol. Great at all three roles, but too light to replace gun grease, you'll still need something for slides, etc.

* CorrosionX. Outstanding at rust protection and lubing, but only mediocre at cleaning. Use a separate cleaner like Mpro-7, if you use CorrosionX.

* Mpro-7 CLP or "field cleaner." I've been trying this new stuff recently, it's the Mpro cleaner combined with an outstanding modern lubricant and rust protection, so you can use as an all-in-one. It SEEMS to work well, I'm cautiously optimistic, but have yet to be convinced that it's been than the combo of CorrosionX plus Mpro-7 cleaner.

A lot of folks do in fact use only one solution--like old Hoppes #9--for everything, and if that works, by all means that's the simplest and cheapest. I find that I'm too picky, and the all-in-one approach just doesn't get things as absolutely clean, slippery, and smooth as I like them to be.
