The mag release had a tiny amount of surface rust, but hitting it with a little bit of steel wool took it right off. Ill just make sure to always keep that oiled now.

SA refinished it for free.

Keep an eye on it. It will cause the button to stick and the mags won't lock in. I had that happen on one of my older XDs and ended up removing the button and having it refinished, buying an after market stainless steel button is probably easier. Site Sponsor XD Guys carries a Hard Chrome kit that has all the pins plus the mag release button, slide stop, and dis-assembly lever all in one kit. You can also get individual parts in hard chrome.

I hate to call anybody's baby ugly, but I just don't see how that should have happened. I did almost the exact same thing with my blued Combat Commander this year while deer hunting. In a leather holster, worked up a sweat because it got in the 70's where I was hunting (IIRC). I have not TO THIS DAY cleaned the pistol, and it isn't rusting. Now admittedly, I didn't have it in a salt-fog like you probably did by having it under heavy dress, but it did get sweated on. And it looks good as new.

It's a good thing SA went to Melonite, that is for sure.
