Well its already been shipped to SA, so its a moot point. There is no certainty at this point that it will be covered under the warranty, but there is no certainty it wont be. From what i have read about SA and their warranty service, i have a feeling it will be covered but if not i will definately let you guys know. I always like the armory-kote finish as is, so even if i have to pay its not a huge loss.

Well here is my 0.2, i have had my xd .40 for over 5 years and have had only one instance of rust! It had surface rust on rail serrations after handling it and putting it away in the the night stand and not wiping it with a silicone cloth. I pull it out about a week later and noticed the rust, i just grabbed the never dull wadding polish and wiped the rust right off. I re oiled the slide and never had a issue ever again. Also i carry my xd in the truck and never had any rust, 95% at or near the beach. I believe most of the rust issues are from just neglect or laziness i guess. Just check on your gun once in a while to make sure it is protected from the elements. Also remember all guns will rust if they not oiled. I hope this post does not strike anyone the wrong way, but if it does oh well! Remember it is just a forum.

Well i dont really take offense to it. But i can say that i drift off to sleep some nights wondering if all my guns are cleaned/oiled properly. I guess if i was tentative enough to them i would have to wonder. I clean them every time i shoot, and if i notice they are getting any sort of dust on them.

That being said i got a letter back from SA today. Slide refinished, charge: 0.00

Cant wait to get it back now.

Got my slide back today. It looks great, has a nice oiled look permanently, with a very fine stipling. Slick as could be. Sa Sent it back with a nice clamshell case, and re-touched the sights for me also. As an added bonus they "Koted" the bushing for dons guide rod, making the front look more uniform, almost like the 45. I am also glad to say there was no pitting on the slide or barrel. It must have just been surface rust.
Without further ado.
