Nope, no melonite. When i bought this the xd45 hadent hit local stores yet.

I already got an RA from springfield. Its going back to them this week. I had never even heard of rust this bad on an XD. But from function checking it at home it still seems to work flawlessly.

I was really hoping you were going to say that those were all photo shopped ><

I got my gun in 2004 so I am sure that mine is not the mel coating either. Sorry for your loss. My condolences.

But thank god SA covered you! Kudos!

I wish they were photoshopped, but no such luck.

If you have a 2004 just be sure to oil it regularly and i dont think you will ever have an issue.

SA said they will have to determine if the finish was faulty or not. But the way i see it, no matter what it has to be refinished, and 90 bucks for armory kote isnt a bad deal at all. Even if i have to pay for it.

That will do it everytime. Sweat through a leather holster and it will eat a gun alive.

Mine was a pancake holster with a S&W 19 stubbie. Had to get it reblued.

My guess is they'll refinish it no charge.

In lieu of paying SA $90 to refinish it, I'd think twice about sending it to CCR for a cera-hide treatment.
