Eh you dont need to join the corps to have that much respect of your weapon. I sold a Ret. Master gunnery Sarg. a Beretta 92/m9, and he still till this days praises that it was the cleanest (used) gun he's ever seen, even in all his years in the marine corps. he took a white glove to it in every crevice and never found a spec of dirt

and i put over 1,000 rounds through that thing. I'm just THAT hardcore. Thats why I don't understand these peeps about worrying about rust. clean your damn guns people!
