I just purchased my first firearm (a 9mm bi-tone XD) and am wondering about proper care and rust prevention. I live in a pretty humid city (Houston) and was just wondering if people could give me some tips about what to use to oil and clean the gun for storage and just after I come back from the range...the pistol will probably be spending a good amount of time in storage as I don't have a lot of time to go to the range every week, so any ideas on how to prevent rust buildup would be greatly appreciated...I'll keep poking around the forums as well...thanks in advance...

I like Birchwood Casey's Barricade for rust protection.

Hey StykerDM
The best thing I have found to prevent rust is Johnson Paste Wax. I put it on all the metal and wood parts. Its $4.98 for a 16 oz can and it will last for years. Rob |
