Why the Rust Issue in the Industry?
I'm new to owning a handgun, but I have well over a decade of professional fly fishing under my belt. Even in my saltwater set ups, I don't see any rust. Some of my reels have seen three continents of use, both in fresh and saltwater environs. I can't say as I have always been diligent about rinsing the reels as well. So my question is, why is there seemingly a great concern (problem?) among various firearms and rusting? This industry-wide concern (problem?) doesn't extend to my reels, which are exposed to a heck of a lot more corrosive moisture than any gun will.
What am I not getting? Is there a potential technology resource in the fly fishing world that would greatly improve the firearms industry? Or am I missing something? |

clean it after every use, make sure your not using corrosive ammo and put the proper amount of oil in all the right places and you should never see any rust.

Clearly you haven't fly fished with me!
Sweat is far from the most corrosive substance my fly fishing gear endures. Thanks for the responses! |
