After looking at pictures 1, 2, and 3 in this thread, you honestly believe the slide would look like that after just being wiped down? As for the other parts, yes they are the same parts just wiped down. Remember Glock would not refurbish the pistol? Do you also notice those parts are sitting in the background of the assembled pictures? This would indicate that maybe replacement parts were purchased and reassembled with the old parts?

The guide rod in the G26/G27's are plastic...they can't rust...
Show me the packing slip, return and sent correspondence and address labels and I might start thinking some of this could have the possibility of being in the same realm as plausable...

It does look like there is a lot of factory copper lube in there, BUT I also see clear visual evidence of rust in several areas. Maybe the original owner had not cleaned the original copper out and got it wet or whatever before storing it. I would have soaked it slide down in some pb blaster for a day or two. |

I thought the same thing but its hard to tell if its just excess oil/grease or rust.

Come On Guys!
I'm a loyal XD owner, but it seems to me like many of you on the thread here are beginning to act a little childish at seeing a Glock rust. I love my XD, but I also have a huge respect level for Glock. If it was not for Glock, none of us would be so proudly displaying our XD's.
With that said, I'm a little leary of the pictures. How come it took him so many replies to finally state how much he purchased the gun for? Also, I wouldn't mind seeing the paperwork from Glock. |

Now a few more answers for Bryant:
It took the "obscene" amount of WD40 and the Mallet to break the slide free, it was rusted shut. the rust looking substance is the WD40 that was running throughout the inside to loosen things up, the recoil spring and guide have no rust on them, only residue. Glock stripped the slide, possibly blasted it, then re-finished it, some pitting still shows on the outside and the inside frame rails, but had been finished over. When I received the pile of parts, it did not contain sights or the takedown lever spring. And I was reluctant to say how much I paid for the gun initially because I like suspense Last edited by sixgunsblazing; 01-11-2008 at 09:39 AM. |
