Major Rust Issues, Need Help

Ok, I have close to 2k rounds through my 40sc. I clean it every time I shoot and wipe it down daily. Normally I get rust on the slide where my skin touches it, and that can be taken care of daily. What I am stumped at, is how to clean these areas that I can't get into. It's so bad in the trigger area that the trigger doesn't realease properly. Here are some pictures. How should I take care of this. http://www.incredibletoycompany.com/xd.htm

I think I would send that one back to SA and let them fix it.

+1

It may need some refinishing, which SA should cover for free.

I am guessing this is a pre-melonite finish. I have heard of springfield refinishing guns under warranty I would contact them and email the pictures and see what they say.

If you have a cracked locking block too, I'd definately send it in. I had feeding problems in addition to rusting issues with mine, so I sent mine in. It came back reliable and refinished. I dealt with Megan
megan@springfield-armory.com.

What do you think?
Is this worthy of a trip back to SA?

I had the same rust issues.

Maybe I'll give SA a call and see if they can help me out.

usually i just apply a few drops of oil and work the mag release. this technique of keeping the surface oiled has also work to keep my blued slide from rusting at all.
