Rusting ?

My XD is now working great, I got back from the range last night and started to clean it and to my surprise the rag I was using for my final wipe down started to turn brown . I thought that I dident have to worry I only bought it 4 or 5 months ago Melonite right, nope called springfield today and it missed the cutoff. My question is how do I compleatly remove the rust. The gun is cleaned and oiled every week becouse it is my ccw, I also use blue wonder armidillo. I have holster wear to, the wear does not bother me it is the rust any suggestions on how to keep it rust free, short of sending it back and waiting 4-6 weeks.

I took a copper scrub pad and soaked it with CLP break free.
Scrubbed the slide with it. This took off the rust and left bare metal spots on the slide. De-greased the slide, then used cold blue to re-blue the spots. I wipe the slide down daily if I'm carrying or handling it.
If it is your CCW you should probably wipe it down every night.
