How often do I need to oil my carry pistol to prevent rust?
Being that it's a carry weapon, it's going to get exposed to a lot of sweat. How often will it need to be oiled and cleaned to prevent rust?
Right now I'm giving it a bath in 3 in 1 oil then wiping it down with hoppes gun oil, every night before I go to bed. I let it drain out and dry over night. Am I being overly paranoid or do these things really rust like a datsun?

I think you're over doing it. During the summer I'll wipe the outside of my carry firearms off with a silicone cloth every few days due to sweat and condensation.
Every Saturday they get field stripped with a *light* coat of oil all around and down the barrel. Even that might be overdoing it a little, but it's HUMID as heck here so I don't mind donig it. |

I think twice a week is a good measure as long as you don't see rust. Everyone's body chemistry is different, and some have more acidic sweat than others. I would look into getting a better lube as well, one with a strong anti-corrosion package. Corrosion X, Eezox, Fp-10, Break Free...these will also lube better than the products you mentioned.

I'll try some of that break free since a friend has a bunch of it.

I think it also depends on where you live. Arizona in the summer is fairly dry as opposed to say.....the entire Midwest and East Coast.
