Angry Dang that rusty xd 40 sc.

Well I have taken good care of my xd 40 sc. Always wiping it down after carrying and never really had a rust problem. So today like always I tuck my xd in my high noon iwb throw on a t shirt and run to lowes. It was hot and I was sweating a little. I get back home about an hour later and I just had that feeling that I better pull the xd out and take a look. Sure enough a lot of rust where the gun made contact with my skin. It is not even summer yet and the thing has rusted. Granted it did wipe off with some hoppes but there are still stains from where it rusted. Now I guess I can use this as an excuse to go get a new ccw gun and send this thing back to SA for the armory kote. I dont care what you say or do if you sweat at all on the xd pre melonites it will rust. I am not suprised just a little irritated that SA would release the gun with such a piss poor finish.

B...b....b...but if you take care of it... it won't rust! How many times have I heard that? Isn't anyone going to chime in and claim he doesn't know how to take care of a gun? (sarcasm)

Usually. Sometimes not though. I think it depends on who you talk to at SA.

+1 Although I would add that I use Blue Wonder Armadillo, and frequently wipe it down with BreakFree CLP. It is feedback like the original post that make me take these redundant steps in helping to prevent rust. I think wiping it down frequently is expected. But should we really need to take the extra step of Armadillo? I don't think so. Is it required? Sorry, I'm not going to use mine for a rust test to answer that one.
