I have the liquid zinc parkerizing from Lauer WEaponry.

It says to heat up their liquid/water mix for 30 min before soaking your parts. However, it also says to add a steel wool pad the the mix.

It does not say WHEN to add the steel wool. Do I add it right before the soak after the liquid has been heated, or do I add it and heat it all up for 30 min before I soak my parts?

Also, can I remove the steel wool to prevent it from touching my parts, or does it have to stay in the entire time?

Thanks.

Apparently, it eats the steel wool, so I'd say add it a little before adding the part.

Like I've said before, I'm also doing a batch of throwing knives to test out various techniques.

A box of washers from Home Depot is another good test subject.

Added the steel wool when your heating the solution let it sit in the solution for about 30 min. I took the remaining steel wool out before I put the parts in. Degrease the steel wool before putting it in the solution.
