That's very nice. Mmm, I take it you followed the instructions on jouster.com?

Did you blast it first with aluminum oxide? I think the 'cammo' may be because of the blast.

I used Ospho for the phosphoric acid, steel wool, zinc plated stud fittings all from the local hardware store for my zinc park job. If you want manganize park you can get the manganize oxide from a pottery shop, or use the black stuff in the middle of dry cell batteries.

I'll post pics of the Hi-Point when/if I get a chance to do this. Mmm, as a side note, does anyone think this would be a bad idea to perform on a Mosin Nagant's bolt assembly? Completely disassembled, of course....

Sorry for the double post, but it occured to me last night that a friend of mine has a bunch of cheap throwing knives, and when I asked her if I could Park a few of them, as an experiment, she said sure.
After I locate some Ospho, is get some zinc, and I found out that I can get Manganese Oxide at pottery stores. What I'll do is, I'll Zinc Park one of the knives, and do a couple of the others with different amounts of MO. She has a dozen of them, all exactly alike, so that should provide a pretty good example of how they come out, I would think. This is especially good, because a buddy of mine wanted to use the Zinc Parkerization on his Nagant's bolt assembly.

A word of advice degrease and degrease and degrease.

Oh, I plan to.
Would you mind sharing the formula you used? I've located the acid, I'll be using something called Oshpo. Zinc should be be easy to come by, since according to what you said, you can just use anything coated (?) in zinc. (scrape the copper off pennies?) If I have any more problems locating the manganese, I'll have to use iron filings. So, like I said, if you wouldn't mind sharing your mixture, and possibly some pictures, I'll see what I can come up with on my end.

Here you go. This is what I followed, again I used a bit more than 1 1/2 oz. For sure use some scrap metal first.
http://www.jouster.com/articles30m1/parkerizing.html The iron filings are not a replacement for the manganese. I've read where some people use the black part of dry cell batteries for manganese.

Yeah, that's the recipie I was planning on using, I'm just still not sure what a "whiskey jigger" is.
*Googling* ..... 1.5 ounces.... Ok, but to how much water? And, as for scrap metal, like I said, a friend of mine has volunteered her cheap throwing knives.
