I was in such a hurry to paint it that I didn't take pics of the park job. I'm still kicking myself for that one.

Results!

2 Slides parkerized at the same time with 2 different results..You can see that the top one is lighter than the bottom one.



Closer picture of the top one(Will have to be re-done for darker finish)

Did you use the same solution for both and the same amount of time? Are you using a homebrew solution or something off the shelf?

Same everything,solution is off the shelf..Maybe i just had to leave mine longer..Do you have any good recipe for it?

I used this one. The phosphoric acid source for mine was Ospho rust treatment solution and I used zinc oxide instead of manganese dioxide.

1. Phosphoric Acid (the active ingredient in Naval Jelly) usually procured at a chemical supply house.
2. Powdered Manganese Dioxide (a very dense and heavy dark gray to black powder) also available at any chemical supply house.
3. Distilled water (I’ve used tap water, but the distilled stuff gives more consistent results.
4. A biscuit of steel wool (don’t use soap pads or Brillo pads!)
