Their office stance on that is no, however, I've heard many stories of people just sending them in without telling SA and they got no problems from them.

I think the only company that gives a lifetime warranty to even a 2nd hand purchaser is Taurus... But - not on the finish - that's only for a year.

When checking the date on your "test round" don't forget that the date is not in standard "american form" but in "world form". That is, Date, Month, Year. Like today is 24/3/2007 or 24MAR2007

since the warranty is not transferable, then they should start making parts available and not say "we have a life time warranty so we are not going to make parts availabe but instead make you send your weapon in for warranty work"

sweet...didn't mean to dig up bones with this one, but i went back and looked at my 'born date' and it's 01 -12- 06, which means i got it about 2 weeks after being made

I just bought my XD9 last Thursday and I called SA about the date. It was 12/05. I would call SA and give them the serial number before you take possession of the gun.
