Want to stop the rust...do what I did

Find somebody that doesnt intend to carry and handle the gun on a daily basis, sell your old-finish model to them and go get a Melonite finish unit. It nearly killed me to let go of my XD S/C but now that I have a new one with the new finish...the universe is properly aligned once again! WHAT A MACHINE!!! I've been to the range twice with my new XD S/C 9 and, just like the old rust bucket, I can't make it malfunction.

Mine rusted a little once and i cleaner her up good. Now i carry my subby everywhere almost everyday and i might wipe it down once a week at best. No more rust for some reason.

EDIT "Until it started getting warm out and a little bit of sweat made it rust like no ones business"

I have the old finish and I have not had any rust problem, I guess I got a good one.

...move to Az! Yet another reason I live here; no rust! My original finish is just fine.

I have the old finish. Just covering it up with hard chrome makes all the difference.

I'll probably buy up older models with rush issues. Nice cheap guns to do projects with and get spare parts. you can PM me here if you've got one to sell. Even parts to sell like the slide or frame...

Yeah but you need to bring your own water if you move there.

+1

Mine showed a little bit of rust, but that was only because I hosed it off (yeah like with a garden hose) after 4-wheeling once. I carry mine daily and our summers are hot and very sticky and I have very few problems.

I'm lucky if I oil it once a week.

I bought mine back in 2003.

None of my XD's every rusted/corroded! I just keep mine in the blue vapor bag that came with it. Call/contact Springfield Armory and ask them for one or two. That should keep the crusted brown off.
