My Xd 9Tac covered in rust...

Hi Folks,

Hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season; I stored my "new" (since october) XD 9 tac ever since my last match (mid December). I gave it a good cleaning, left it in the safe as well as the G34 (both used at the saem event) and tonight as I prepare to go early this morning (AM) and was packing getting things ready, I pulled the XD9 tac out of the safe and the slide was covered in rust (light film). Bith in and out, with a heavier residue on the right side.

It's taken me hours to get rid of it, but in storage for 3 weeks, after a good cleaning, left with a very light CLP coat...and RUST!!!! No acceptable!!!! I love all of my XD's, but RUST!!!! BTW the XD 45 ACP service model does NOT show an incline of dirt.

I am going to shoot in the IDPA event tomorrow, but I'm think in contacting SA...Has anyone contacted them with the same issue and if so, what has been thier response?

...still a fan.

I know people swear by CLP. I don't understand how a solvent can also protect metal; never liked the product. For me, a light coat of oil is the only thing that should ever touch a XD slide.

Sorry about your rust problem.

I have had CLP cause rust on firearms in the past. I don't use it.

Man Nerves that tanks. I don't understand why as a company you don't research a finish before releasing a product.

Guess you'll have to shoot your open gun now?

Hmm... clp causing rust... anyone else care to try it?

I use Eezox every few weeks, if I haven't shot it recently. And normally clean semi-thoroughly after shooting.

Weird

I do. It leaves the gun with a nice sheen.
