What do you have in your safe to control moisture? I use a box of baking soda.

When I clean our weapons, I finish off the a spray of Rem Oil and put them in the safe.

I just checked a couple of rifles that have not been out of the safe in two months. No rust.

After I clean my guns or sharpen any knives I wipe everything down with a reusable silcon cloth and I have never had any rust. I used to have (recently lost) a 10 year old swiss army knife that saw daily use and it never rused. Same for the guns and other knives.

I have had my Xd for over a year, never had an issue. It was stored in a foam/nylon SA gun rug Case for most of that time. I just recently started carrying it. I use a couple different solvents, Gun Scrubber by Birchwood casey, and hoppes copper solvent for the bore, I have also used break-free.

Inside of slide & frame, I always follow with a light coating of gun oil, than one wipe with a dry patch. Oil on the outside of the slide, than a good wipedown, than either a silicone rag, or a coat of rem-dry dry lube. In the winter I don't bother with the oil, since I don't want the outside oily at all.

Michigan has a humid season and a dry season, its dry now.

Cool Two words

Armadillo Wax...... Best stuff on the market when you finally figured out how to use it. I love it and have had a problem on any of my guns and I am not really good about cleaning my guns very often. Plus the older XD's had a rust problem so if it had a test fire date of before spring of 06 it rust very easily. My friend had one that he had to keep cleaning because of it and SA paid for his armor kote. They may or may not do that for you depending on how old the gun is. It helped he was a manager at one of their dealers too.
