Hey,

Yeah I'm a Cisco Certified Network Engineer and I had some old papers around from class when I took the pic. Goodness I really hated doing that subnet conversion and IP Addressing. Oh well, every time I look at my check I know it was worth it.

Interesting thread. I too use CLP and have had absolutely no rust issues. The other comments clearly point to the cleaning product and a rusting vulnerablity. That is underscored by the fact that similiar rusting issues, with that product, have been noted on other forums. But, I would have exercised the warranty???

I dunno for sure, but I had it happen also. I do know that bluewonder fast blast's first ingrediant is water. I don't use it.

XD's are great guns, but let's face it. they rust easily, and I dont want to hear any of that "if you take care of it it wont" crap, because i can fondle almost any other gun all i want and put it away for 6 weeks and not a spec of rust will appear. On my old XD if i were to rack the slide, and come back a few days later, it would be a little rusted on the slide serrations, and I did oil my gun up, but the finish just plain blows ass, I wouldnt mind getting a newer XD with the melonite. but as it is, i'm liking the sig alot so i probably wont bother untill i have some cash burning a hole in my pocket, or untill they come out with a real sub compact .45

Are you sure that isn't a flood recovery gun? I have never seen anything that bad in a long time.

I've had my XD 357 SIG when they were first released. So it's been several years. I've never had a "rust" problem. I'm not sure what causes some XD's to rust and others don't. If I did have a rust problem though I would have the same feelings. I would look into puting a new finish on the gun.

Just my two cents here but lets not hang a man until he has a say....In other words I for one would like to take a look at the inside of the slide where the barrell contacts it. Those are some mighty nasty wear mark patterns on that barrell. Also if you lube a rusty spot it will continue to rust. I have 2 1911's, a .22 pistol a 30-30 marlin , remington 12ga., 50 cal. blackpowder Thompson, 2 Bersa .380 pistols, and an xd service .40 and use blue Wonder on all of them and some are old guns and some are newer and I have yet to have a rusting problem on any of them. I am very picky about cleaning them and even if they sit in the safe I will periodically wipe them down with a silicone cloth to prevent any moisture buildup. I think we have either some negelct here or a wearing problem of a severe nature. Floyd

Stop peeing on your barrel.

On the serious side did you give SA a chance to correct this? They would have. I had an XD-40 with a couple issues...SA took care of it and even gave me some freebies for my troubles...I came out ahead.

If you did not then you really had no reason to post this because you did not go to the SOURCE to solve the problem.

If you DID go to SA and they didnt help you then I understand your actions completely.

Which was it?
