+1 got mine in jan 06 manuf in 2004 not a single speck of rust anywhere

What product by Blue Wonder did you put on the barrel, specifically, that cause it to rust like that?

Old School, I used the "Gun Cleaner" on the inside of the barrell and on the outside I cleaned it with the "Fast Blast", afterwards I applied the "Disotec XFR" to both the inside and outside of the barrell.

I really don't know the cause but I also have a Springer 1911 GI that I valued less than the XD so I used cheap Breakfree CLP and Outers Oil and have never had any rust. The frustrating part is that I didn't care for the 1911 anywhere near like I did the XD.

Also some people are getting "bent" because I dare say something negative about the XD. I'm just relating my experience with the firearm. Is this not what this forum is about? Share experiences, give advice, ask questions. Maybe my situation will help someone in the future and that is why I posted my situation. If you love the Xd I'm happy for you but don't close your eyes to possible flaws with the firearm or turn your head when someone has a less than five star opinion of it.

Additionally, I am frustrated because I read decent reviews about the gun in magazines and later found out about the rust issues after purchasing the gun. This concerned me a great deal so as a result I bought a dehumidifier, blue wonder, and cared for it very well. The guys at the local range have to check the gun before entering the lane and they even commented on that fact. So yeah its very irritating after spending $540.00 on the firearm alone that its rusting. And a lifetime guarantee doesn't take the place of developing a quality product from the get go.

On a side note, I polished my barrel and just use CLP and haven't had even the slightest sign of rust.

I appriciate your post. What I get from it is to stay away from the cleaning product you used. It must be some strong stuff indeed. Or the barrel surface needs to be babied some, so I'll be doubly sure to keep it oiled.

The irony is that if you had cleaned it the same way as the 1911, it might still be good. Not your fault, you used reputable products, on a reputable gun, they were just not compatible.

Enjoying my XD .45ACP Tactical. need to break in my 870, and my wife's XDSC9.

I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

I was on the fence between a SIG and HK. I ended up getting an HK USP40. Hopeuflly it was worth the money but so far I love it. Its got the same 1911 style grip that I love and feels very natural in my hand.

I cannot see how an oil can do that, regardless of whose oil it it. I own 5 XD and have never had a speck of rust in 3+ years using only BW products.
