Rust Removal
Hello,
A friend of mine at work just bought a S&W .38 special revolver from an ex-LEO for $50. His wife picked it up for him and when he saw it he said that there is rust all over the gun. The blue is also wore off on parts of the gun. He did say there is some pitting on the metal as well where it is rusting. What can he do to remove the gun and refinish it? He doesn't want to have to send it in somewhere and have it refinished for alot of money. He would rather do this himself and save the money. I know this is not an XD or an SA gun for that matter but everyone on this forum sounds like they know what they are talking about. Thanks. |

Hmmm...for a $50 gun, I'd try using some Blue Wonder and see if it gets the rust off and try the Blue Wonder Gun Blue Kit.
No I don't work for them, but I do use their products. http://www.bluewonder.us/Products.html

I am not sure what it will do to the bluing, it may remove all of it. But it sounds like a cool technique for other things. |

He decided that he wants to remove all of the blueing and then re-blue it with blue wonder.
Thanks for the advice guys. |
