Well I had been wondering about all this rust talk. I never had more than some surface rust, that usually looked like finger prints.
Then it happened. I was the Range Officer for a Stage at my clubs Action shoot and it started to rain. It wasn't raining hard but I was standing in it for about 20 minutes, with my XD in my holster on my hip. When I got home I had quite a bit of surface rust. I promptly tore it down and cleaned it up. I used a silicone cloth on the slide when I was done, as I always do. It still gets surface rust on it now, like it comes back. Also the pin that holds the loaded chamber indicator is also rusted at one end. I guess I'll be calling Springfield. Will they go through all the parts in my slide, or just recoat the slide?

Also, I believe that SA swears up and down that a slide can't be refinished in the states, and they have to import a new one....

Hmm, still waiting for a buddy's Taurus to get back from the shop, so I haven't sent mine off yet.
Now I'm noticing tiny rust spots on the grip safety.... At least I figured out who's hands were doing this...
