Rust on polished barrel?

For those of you that have polished your barrel.......have you had any rust as a result? Also......I just created a poll regarding everyones thoughts on whether or not I should do it.

Barrel....to polish or not?

well.....i did it. took alot of knuckle grease. The blueing was a pain to take off. i sanded with 1500 grit sandpaper and i used some polish with my dremel tool to buff it out. it has a mirror finish like most that you see on here. still havent figured out how to get the blueing out of the numbers. doesnt look too bad though.

1500 was probably a bit fine to get rid of the blue. I would have started with about 400 then gone to 600 and then finished with some Flitz on some 800 or even just a shop cloth. That's probably why the blue was a PITA to remove. Live and learn though - we'd love to see a photo of the result.
