Hydrosorbent Dehumidifier

I live on the West Coast of B.C. which is one of the wettest places on the planet. Temperate Rainforest I believe they call it. I have read some of the horror stories about XDs rusting so I have taken some extra precautions. So far, I have not had any rust issues. Whether that's due to my efforts or pure luck, I don't really know. I do recommend, however, a product called Hydrosorbent Dehumidifier, which is basically a big box of silica gel. I keep it at the back of my gun locker. What's cool about it is it has a warning system that changes colour when it is saturated and you can recharge it (dry it out) in the oven. I haven't had to reactivate mine yet. Along with this I thoroughly wipe down the slide with oil fairly often. Like I say, so far so good. If you are interested check out their site: www.dehumidify.com

Funny. I have one in the oven now to dry the silica out after being in my safe for several months. The indicator just turned pink. $10 from Cabella's.
