XD finish... Rust or not...

This is a discussion on XD finish... Rust or not... within the Rusty Tales forums, part of the Use and Training category; I figure if an XD's finish rusts, I can always have it re-finished with something more protective, right? What are some good finishes, how much ...

XD finish... Rust or not...

I figure if an XD's finish rusts, I can always have it re-finished with something more protective, right? What are some good finishes, how much do they cost, and where would I go to get them?

thanks for your thoughts...

Duracoat provides a nice finish for a weapon. I am getting ready to spray both of my XD slides as the finishes on both are starting to mar. Price is bearable if you have a pro do the work, but if you can do it yourself it is not too costly. I just put a duracoat finish on a 12 gauge pump and it cost me about $100.00 for the template and the paint. This was with multi-colors, one color would be less expensive.

I sure like my hard chrome matte finish from trippresearch.com. About $95 for the slide and less than 2 weeks door to door.

A new finish is a good option if you want to change the color or the look of the gun. If you want to protect it from rust, I would suggest you apply a light coat of oil, allow to dry, wipe of excess, and apply two coats of Blue Wonder Armadillo. That will protect your gun from moisture if done correctly.

Armadillo is like a raincoat for your XD.
