Melonite at Burlington Engineering

Just wondering if anyone has checked into, or knows of anyone that has checked into, what it cost having your slide done by these guys.

I could be wrong, but I don't think they do one-off work for individuals...I believe they do contract work for manufacturers.

That could be very true, later on I will call them to find out just to know. I did stumble accross this if anyone is interested and I may consider getting my xdsc 40 done if the price is right. These guys do the melonite work for S&W and I just called them. I didn't double check the address while I was on the phone:

Flames Metals Processing Corporation
7317 West Lake Street
Minneapolis, MN 55426
(952) 929-7815

I spoke to a guy who said they do a lot of pistol parts as they do a Melonite for S&W (which I already knew). They will do it for individuals and they charge a minimum of 105.00 and he was not sure what the total would be for slide, etc. The guy that knows the prices was not there today, and will not be in until tomorrow, but he would know for certain. The old information I have is that they would do a slide and any other parts (within reason) for 125.00 and 10.00 shipping. That's an old price though and it I'm sure it probably has gone up. It sounds though like it would be a very viable option, even if it were up around the price of hard chrome, for those (like me) looking for a very durable black finish for concealment (or whatever). It would also match the finish on the xd45's.

OK, I just talked Burlington and they do private stuff also. The only thing is that they have a 325.00 minimum lot charge. He said that would do about 5-6 pistols and I'm assuming polymer pistols would be even more. That would be good for someone that wanted to get a number of theirs done, or if a group of people got together. Otherwise the place above would be better for an individual pistol.
