Rust on 45ACPs ?

Okay, other than giving your XD 45s a saltwater bath or dishwasher shower, can folks tell me their experiences with the melonite treated slides? I have a bitone 40SC that has been great and I'm contemplating a 45 in black. Just wanted to make sure I shouldn't hold our for a stainless slide on this one.

I really like the black finish. This will be used for a range and bedside gun. Thanks for your input!!

I have 2 45 acp. Not even a speck of a problem. Overall the finish seems to withstand holstering, etc, better than the older finish. If you're worried, buy a package of silicone wipes and keep them handy. There are plenty of good deals on the used 45's in the forums.

I've had my XD45 service since April and I've been using it heavily. I have yet to see any rust AT ALL. The new melonite finish seems to me to be as good or better than the finish used on Glock weapons...which is very good...

Rust can happen on any of them, but the melonite is more rust resistant than even stainless. It can happen to stainless:

Even Glocks can rust if the circumstances are right.
