I'm not wiping the rust off of my slide anymore. The gun gets handled every day. Guess what -- the rust has hit a point of equilibrium. I rub off just as much as forms on it, for a net gain/loss of no rust. It isn't hurting the gun, the inside of the gun is nice and lubey and not rusty, it's not leaving pits in the surface...what difference does it make? I don't care anymore, and I'm done fighting it.

I was kinda hoping that when I gave up it'd simply rust all over so that I could take a funny pic and post it here, but alas, that hasn't happened yet.

Anyway...doubtful that anyone cares. If it does turn 100% rusty I'll take a pic, though.

It's cheaper and easier to just not get it refinished than to get it refinished.

Incidently, that's the same argument I use to not go get haircuts. :P

Well guys, I tried to remain steadfast to my apathy, but in the end, I couldn't resist it any longer. I cleaned her up this morning before leaving for work. I felt bad about letting it go like that, not for any mechanical reliability or integrity concerns, but...well...

The gun's always there, everywhere I go, by my bed at night, ready to dispatch justice and take care of me if need be, it's NEVER not worked (by which I mean, of course, that it's always worked), and I treated her like a cheap hooker. A rusty hooker. Made of metal. A cheap, metallic, oxidizing hooker.

I think we're good now, though. I'll probably take her on a date this weekend though to make up for it. Tell you what, girls are cheaper than guns, but at least with guns you don't have to put up with any lip.

I don't know how you define cheaper, but I haven't ran into a girl yet that won't end up being a million times more expensive than a gun.

Y'know, now that I go back and read that, I do have to wonder what it was that I was thinking when I wrote that. I know good and well that girls are the 2nd most expensive thing on the planet.

just joking my wife spends less money than i do.plus she doesnt want me to spend on her either!doesnt not like guns; doenst like the cost of them.
