Melonite finish on other models?? any expected date? - XDTalk Forums - Your HS2000/SA-XD Information Source!

I e-mailed SA XD sales and asked about the rumor of all XD's getting melonite, and just an estimate of when if ever that will happen, and all I got back was," the .45 ACP is the only model with melonite finish right now." I am so excited to be my first XD, but don't want to worry about rust, so for now I think I'll go with the .45. But does anyone have a difinative answer as to how long I'll need to wait to get my beloved .357 Sig XD with a melonite finish!! ha ha Thanks!

No idea. All replies from SA on the subject vary from what you received to some are being sent with it.

My XD-9 Tactical as well as my buddy's tactical has the Melonite treated slide. Trust me, it is Melonite. We both have the 2006 packaged XD's. I had a 45ACP Tactical and it's the same color/finish. I am looking at a Brunial finished slide right now. It's not the same. The old finish is more gray in apperance. The Melonite is smooth black in appearance.
