orange slide

well it finally happened, and I knew it would sooner or later.

went out of town to vegas (a whole other story) and tossed the XD in the gun safe with the others for a week.....took it out 10 minutes before returning to work and WHAM....the slide and grip safety were a lovely shade of sunkist orange......thought to myself, "I guess Im not the only lucky one".........was a simple fix, as I was in a hurry to get to work, I hosed down a rag with remoil and it cleaned right up, but man I was bummed......guess its going in for some sort of finish, not just the slide, but all them cute little metal parts.......

The inexpensive route would be Duracoating it. Expensive but long turnaround would be Birdsong's Black-T.

Duracoat is an option. That or Springfield could put a finish that is worth a damn on the handgun to start with. That is my only serious gripe with the XD. The finish is garbage. However, people are adamant about how it's just an illusion. Check the "official rust poll" people. 33% of people have had a rusty xd. That is a pretty high percentage. It's better now, but about a year ago people were even worse about it. If your gun was rusty, you just didn't know how to properly care for a firearm... bunchaassholes.
