That's why you don't leave it in the foam case...

Not sure what that is. Are you storing it in the factory case? Where are you keeping the case? How long has it been in the case?
Yes it is being stored in the factory case, under my bed and maybe 2 weeks but i cracked the case open because I had read bout people getting rust on theirs. I don't have a safe yet and really could store it anywhere since we have no kids I just figured it was best right there if i needed it.

Try this?

CLP is a cleaning agent, I would clean the hell out of the slide and the whole gun. Also you might try a product called flitz!!!

Rust, not good. Should clean up fine though. Remember stainless does not mean rust proof it just means that it will stain less.

Put a little gun oil on some very fine steel wool and your problems will go away. Easy fix.

If you wipe it down with a silicon cloth before putting it in the case, it should be fine. I have kept mine that way for a year now with no issues. Do you live in an area with high humidity? I don't see why the stock case would be any more likely to cause rust than a safe or any other storage device. I would think it has more to do with environmental factors like humidity or salt air.

While you're out getting some CLP, get a silicon cloth.
