They are good pistols . They do rust , but you got to put them in pure salt water for a long time
I do love my Glocks . My Xd-9 Service has been pretty good too. I have purposely worn it while mowing grass and getting sweat on it , and wearing it any day I am off from my job and while I am working outside and sweating badly , yet so far , no rust .
Maybe the melonite has done right .

is is a actual stainless model or a regular steel slide that someone knocked the coating off of? it looks pretty dull to be stainless(maybe just the pics..), but if its a piece of stainless there isnt a coating to "re-coat" is there? its the actual metal that resists rust.

What a drag , open your box and find something like that. I ve opened the box on things to find broken parts, missing items etc. It happens and its just a fact of life that we can't control.

Good luck with your warranty with SA.

My compact 9mm XD got wet last Saturday. When I got home on Sunday night to clean there was rust all over the slide. I am getting my Duracoated on Monday.

What is the story on that gun ?
I have a Glock 22 that I have carried on my job for 12 yrs now and it was new in box and has been in snow, water , rain , salt ,mud, and on and on and still has no rust .

I believe someone did not get the memo about putting weapons in something watertight before you have the boating accident.

At least I hope that's what it is from.
