I have one of the older models, get rust on the slide from time to time, and honestly a quick wipe with bf clp takes it right off.

the thing is, when i got it it didn't have any packaging grease or any type of lubrication or cleaning agents on it, it was dry, so i'm assuming the shop did something to clean it and may have marred the finish a bit, i sent it to SA so then can refinish it this way i will be starting with a clean slate and i will know what i have for sure.

I am not a XD owner, and am not slamming them in any way but I cant understand all the rust issues.
Its great that they take care of the problems but you would think they would find out why they are rusting so they dont have to keep continually refinishing customers slides. What gives, anyone really know?

One of the shops I buy my guns from unpackages and cleans all the guns they sell so they don't get packing grease on customers. I usually decide on a model and ask for one from the "back" that hasn't been wiped down for display...

There are not that many rust issues. It's just that people feel the need to ***** about the very small percentage of them that do have rust problems.

One thing about the "New" guns... I bought mine NEW Wednesday and took it home last Friday. It's NIB, but it was test fired in April of 2007. It's new, but 2 years old. So your NIB gun may not be as new as you think...

I'm sure its a little late. But by buffing your gun you're erasing all the evidence. The pictures dont mean jack.

Send it in as it is, dont play around.

Very true Some guns will sit in a display case or gunshop for quite a while before being bought.
