wow... i feel like i'm in the twilight zone...
just got off the phone with SA... that was without a doubt the most pleasant conversation i've ever had with a cust service rep. i'll have the return lable within an hour to send the slide back in for re-finishing, also found out she was born in Nov. of '08 so ther eis absolutely NO excuse why it should have rust on it. really. springfield customer service is awesome! i'm actually going to call them tomorrow and se ehow much it would be for them to send it back with some fiber-optics on it.

SA does have great service... in regard to the "Got XD", yes, I change it because I didn't want someone to get offended by the word "A$$" so, I though I would be nice enough to change it. Sorry, I hope I didn't get your hopes up! LOL

In the event that you have to repair it yourself, there is a great metal polish i used to put a nice shine on oxidized swords in my collection. Called Flitz, it will take off slight oxidization. Little buffing and some flitz and oud be fine.
Now granted, SA is prolly just gunna hook you up But i just wanted to post an option in case

I do notice that on the third picture there appears to be a rusty finger print. I also notice you live in Florida.
Stainless steel can and will rust. Also when stainless is machined minute particles of carbon steel end up embedded in the stainless steel. I personally would clean it up using some CLP and fine bronze wool. Then put a coat of car polish on it.

Rust Removal
Wow..........this is the 2nd thread on here about rust.... other is in the XDm forum.
Glad to hear SA is going to take care of it. If you want to try and clean it yourself have a look at this product Rusteco & GreaseMaster. Good stuff, and wont harm paint or anything else is biodegradeable even. It will also protect it after the rust is gone. |
