After CLP
This question exposes my newbieness, anyway...after giving my sst slide a good wipe down with clp, the "poly' is a bit slippery. Want to clean the grip and not clean the clp off the slide. What works?
A true newbie question, want to keep the grip as dry as possible. thanks. |

I wipe mine off with a clean rag. The CLP supposed to leave a film on all the parts it needs to. You can't wipe it completely off with just a rag. At least that is what I have done with good results.

A bottle of rubbing alcohol and some cotton balls and q-tips, or some alcohol wipes and you should be able to remove all of the CLP of of the polymer.

If you're going to use alcohol on the polymer, dilute it 3-to-1 (water-to-alcohol) so that you minimize any potential discoloration of the polymer frame.
However, I'd just wipe the excess CLP off with a rag. No big deal. |

You can wipe all of the CLP off of the polymer frame - the point of leaving a thin film on the gun is rust protection, and since polymer is plastic (kind of a "no duh!" statement, I realize), you don't have to leave any on the frame.
Wipe off most of the CLP from the slide, leaving a thin film for rust prevention (the "P" in CLP = rust "Protection"). Use some on the frame rails, top of the barrel, on the barrel lug, the trigger block. When you re-assemble the gun after cleaning, operate the slide several times to spread it around on those locations, and have lubricated (the "L"). You can wipe off any that ran off the back of the rails. Hope this was helpful.

CLP dries really quickly and seems to almost evaporate off of the frame. I have practically saturated my frame with CLP before by accident. It is slippery only till the next day. If you are shooting the same day, just an aggressive wiping will prob do the trick. At the very least, your frame will look shiny!
