I'm convinced NOW

O.K.,

I've been semi-convinced to upgrade my trigger for a little while, but have been resisting it... for various reasons.

This past weekend, while at the firing range, I had an opportunity to fire a fellow members XD(m), 4.5" barrel, .45ACP, with a PRP Ultimate Match Trigger.

It had a very NICE trigger.

After thinking about it a few days, I decided that I HAD to have a trigger like that, and have just ordered a PRP Ultimate Match Trigger kit for MY XD(m) pistol.

I'll let you know how it works out.

Thanks,

Duane

Great choice. You will not regret it at all. Mine will be shipped back to me on Monday with a PRP kit and other fun changes installed. I can't wait!!

just put in the drop in kit last week, went to the range for the first time today and can't believe how much better it is. I can only imagine how good these are especially fitted by PRP.

Andy,

I was torn between the "Easy Fit" kit, the "Drop In" kit, and the "Ultimate Match" kit.

Among them, there isn't a huge difference in price. Either one is $100+.

As I was able to determine, the biggest difference is in the difficulty of installation. (with slight differences in results)

After watching the videos several times, I "think" that I have the skills to do a decent install of the 'Ultimate Match" kit, so that's what I've got ordered.

I was happy with SA's original trigger until I fired that gun last weekend.

Dammit.

It's encouraging to hear that you had satisfactory results with your drop in kit...

Thanks,

Duane

My PRP Ultimate Match Target XDM Trigger Kit arrived today in the mail. I ordered it on 5/10/2012.

As you can see, this is a PRP-043 kit.

It'll probably be this coming weekend before I install it. I'll let you know what i think of it then.

I think that I'll be very happy with it.

I'm not trying to be nit picky, but I did have a hard time trying to decide on the kit that I wanted. PRP has made SEVERAL trigger kits for the XD / XD(m) family over the last several years.

Everyone just seems to assume that ALL of the PRP kits, whether for an XD, or an XD(m) are the same. Nope, they have been improving them over time.

PLEASE. When you comment about a PRP trigger kit, mention if its an XD, or an XD(m), the part number of the kit, and whether you installed it yourself, had a gunsmith do it for you, or had PRP do it.

I was as confused as a cat trying to catch a hundred crickets myself.

Thanks,

Duane

XDM Ultimate Match Trigger Kit in my 45. I did the work myself because I wanted to be responsible for all the tolerances. Sand little and sand wet. I swear I stripped my gun upwards of 30 times or more to get it exactly right. Maybe .5mm overtravel, 1mm ish takeup, about 2.5 mm to go bang with reset being the same, and smooth as butter. I couldn't have been more pleased with PRP's product.

SFAnon,

That's sorta' my line of thinking too.
I like knowing how my stuff works, and making it work EXACTLY like I want it.

Either having a local gunsmith do it, or sending it to PRP to have it done incur the same set of problems.

1. I don't learn much, if anything about the modification.
2. They're very likely to "over-fit" it just a little, to make sure that it works, and I don't have a problem with it.

Not putting PRP's , or any other gunsmith's work down. They have to lean toward the "over-fitting" side, because I wouldn't be there to say, "O.K., that's just how I want it."

If I do it myself, I can sneak up on the sweet spot, in small increments, and decide when it's just right, FOR MY PERSONAL PREFERENCE. If I later decide that it needs just a little more material removed here or there, then I KNOW where and HOW to do it.

That's WHY it'll be this weekend before I try taking this project on. I'll have time to sneak up on the sweet spot.

I know there's probably not much to gain result wise from doing it myself, but that's how I'm going to do it.

I'm glad that yours worked out well. I can hardly wait to do my own.

Thanks,

Duane

Well, I got around to installing my PRP Ultimate Match Target XDM Trigger Kit (PRP-043) today.

Wow ! What a difference !

The installation was not difficult, but it did take a while. About 2 hours. Part of this was because I was taking my time making sure that things were fitted "just right".

I think that I could disassemble and reassemble it with my eyes closed now.

Thanks for all of the advice and moral support guys.

Hey man, I'm happy to hear that you were able to complete the install and that it's living up to your expectations! I too feel like I learned a lot about my weapon while installing this kit, and I now know how to tweak, or swap it back to stock if I should so choose. In short, there is very little as fulfilling that taking pride in ones own ingenuity, knowledge, and craftsmanship.

Excellent work Duane, keep us apprised as to how it shoots the next time you get out!
