In that case, I would get the night sights. Better to have and not need than need and not have. I have them on my XD40SC and just have to get them installed on my XD40 4".

Just get them. Besides the cool factor I like my Trijicons better than the stock sights in broad day light. For the extra $90 its a no brainer to me.

Some like 'em, some dont. I like 'em, but that doesnt mean you need 'em.
I dont think they are totally a "must have" but I feel that in low light they may help to orient the gun quicker.

That's what I like about the TruGlo TFO...you get the fiber optic tube as well as the tritium insert...helps in both day and low light situations!

I'd get them if the gun is for any kind of defense.

I'd say not really necessary, but I am looking at a set of Heinie slant eights

I voted "No, not necessary" but I do believe night sights are a great addition for those that like them. I like my Trijicons.
They help me locate the pistol quickly when on the nightstand and I like the nice glow in low light. Personal preference.
