Question Tritium on rear sights: to be or not to be?

I've been looking around on the web and seeing mixed opinions on rear tritium sights. I would think more tritium the better, but could there be another factor i haven't thought about?

Some say rear tritiums are not necessary but i'm not sure what the reasoning behind that would be. What are your reasons for your yes/no answer? Thanks!

They are only good if you need to see your rear sights at night or in low light.

If you are one of those folks who never use their sights then dont bother, but most people do use their sights at least a little bit.

Why would tritium not be good for rear sights???? I really like the way my TFO's look at the range. Much easier to see than the stock sights and makes my gun very easy to find in the middle of the night in total darkness if need be.

Didn't know how much I loved 'em until I got my XD, which came with Trijicons. Now they seem prerequisite to any pistol purchase, or at least a definate mod to one without 'em.

should have posted this in the first post, here is my source:
Reliability problems with XS Sight Systems 24/7 Express Sights (VANITY)

specifically look at posts 20, 21, and 27. after rereading it sounds like one of the guys says front only tritium is sufficient for low light and evening conditions but not real dark. i don't get it.

I didn't know what a difference they made until I had to pull my XD9 out in the middle of the night. Three little dots all in a row and I was good to go.

It's a pretty subjective question. Your front sight is your focus sight, so tritium only fronts make sense to some. However...Some prefer to see the front sight in relation to the rear being on the same plain.
I have both on my G-21.

I had tritium sights put on my XD 9mm Tactical from the factory. If you buy this way be warned that it probably will not shoot with a 6 o-clock sight picture. It will shoot Point of Impact/Point of Aim.
I have the XD45ACP and it shoots 6 o-clock just fine but it has the normal XD sights on it. I could not hit the broad side of a barn with the 9mm until I figured out the sight problem. I was very unhappy with the gun until I figured out to shoot POI/POA. That has changed and I am a very happy camper.
