I agree, the prosecution will certainly bring up the fact that a taser is non-lethal, and as such say that lethal force in response was unwarranted. Just make absolutely sure that the person has the intent to actually use the taser. I view it as a 50/50 chance that could go either way... Which is 50% better than the 0% knowledge you have regarding the assailant's intentions. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by six after all.
I think something needs to be set straight here. The question is referring to a stun gun, which works on pain compliance. Tasers are being referenced a lot, which interrupt your central nervous system. Tasers are designated as non-leathal, but I'm not so sure about stun guns. I would also say that if a person pulls a stun gun or Taser on you they have the intent to use it on you. Just like with our pistols. If I pull, I'm willing to pull the trigger.

Yes, I would pull. Shoot, that depends on if he has a stun gun or a Taser and his actions from there on out.

If the option to retreat is available, I'd always choose that route. However, if cornered and unable to retreat, I'd draw and fire.
If he's willing to stun you, he's willing to shoot you with your own gun once you're on the ground. "I was in fear for my life so I used my weapon to defend myself. I wish to speak to my attorney." As for the stun gun being a "pain compliance" tool...No way...works exactly like the taser to disrupt the central nervous system..you just have to be in physical contact with your assailant instead of being able to use it at a distance. As a retired police officer, I've been hit with both during training, and believe me, the end result is the same.

I have not read one comment but I will say this
a stun gun is not lethal but having your head stomped into a wet spot on the concrete is and I have to assume that anyone willing to incapacitate me is willing to do just that.

In Illinois, potentially lethal IS legally lethal, and a stun gun, while a "less lethal" alternative, is NOT nonlethal, but possibly lethal. Plus, some mayhem is intended if I am attacked with a stun gun. Thus, the use of deadly force is justified.

Definitely yes. I'd say loosing control of your body equates to loosing control of your weapon which can mean a deadly force situation. Of course, it's not this simple.

ETA: I assumed we were talking about a taser w/ the projectiles that drops you, not the cattle prod type of taser.

People have died from being shot by a tazer (stun gun). So I would say yes to shooting them. But it also depends on where you live and the laws. The state I live in I believe you would be justified.
